Creating a subdomain in cPanel

A subdomain allows you to create extra addresses, that end in your domain primary domain name. For example, if you have the domain name banana.com, a subdomain of that would be shop.banana.com.

How to create a subdomain in cPanel

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Navigate to Domains.
  3. Click the blue Create a New Domain button on the right-hand side of the page.
  4. Enter your subdomain in the Domain text box. This should automatically fill out the Subdomain box that appears below.
  5. Ensure the Share Document Root tickbox is unticked (OFF) before proceeding. It should be unticked by this stage automatically.
  6. The Document Root box will also be filled out automatically and can be changed (optional).
  7. Click Submit.

All done! Your new subdomain has been created. Once you have added your new subdomain through cPanel, you should ensure you have pointed your domain name(s) at the Swan Web Hosting servers. Once the subdomain is set up and pointed to the hosting servers, it may take up to 24 hours to come online.
